Analytical Chemist - Environmental

The role:

Our client is a leading Contract testing and analysis company based in the Midlands. An opportunity has become available for an experienced Analytical Chemist to join the company to support with analytical services provided by their Mobile Laboratory.

While the role will be based from Coventry, the successful applicant will be required to work off-site in the mobile laboratory which may involve periods of overnight stay during longer projects.

Responsibilities include:

Working primarily with services provided by the Mobile Laboratory the role will involve carrying-out analytical services on Environmental site samples

 

  • Day to day maintenance of the mobile laboratory and its equipment
  • Carrying out soil and water sample analysis in the mobile laboratory
  • Ensuring all equipment is correctly calibrated and that quality control procedures are followed
  • Mobilising the laboratory for site based projects.
  • Analytical Method development.

 

 

 

 

Experience expectations:

This role has a high degree of autonomy and needs an individual confident in analytical chemistry methods and the ability to work in a laboratory environment independently.

The successful applicant will ideally have;

 

  • Previous industry experience performing environmental analysis and including some of the following; Metals analysis, PAH & TPH, VOC, Phenols, Water & air monitoring, asbestos and geotechnical testing
  • Good familiarity with both inorganic and organic chemistry
  • Experience working to industry quality standards (UKAS accreditation, Good Laboratory Practices and/or ISO 17025)
  • Ideally educated to A-level or above in a Chemistry discipline
  • Familiarity working with LIMS
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

 

 

 

 

 

Package:

In return, my client offers a permanent role with an annual salary of £24,000- £27,000 dependent upon experience
