Our client is a multinational leader in the trading of commodity chemicals and other products to customers worldwide. Due to an internal promotion they have created a new opportunity for a Business Manager to lead their Caustic Soda chemicals business within the EMEA as part of their global commodity chemicals trading business. Based from London, this role will require extensive liaison with manufacturers, distributors and end-users of commodity chemicals. Working specifically within the Ethanol and caustic soda division the successful candidate will be responsible for developing the existing business to help grow revenues. 

The successful candidate will take responsibility for:

Creating strategy, planning business, product sourcing

Maximising the efficiency of logistics 

Sales and marketing

Profitability and long term development of the product portfolio

Business development; working with suppliers, potential customers (directly and/or in conjunction with EMEA teams)

Budgeting & monitoring of the business performance 

Full bottom line responsibility for Caustic soda products 

The background & experiences of the successful candidate will include:

5 years+ working in a sales or product management area within Commodity Chemicals, ideally in a multinational trading or chemicals business

Import/export experience of chemicals

Experience working within the Caustic Soda markets would be advantageous, but not essential.

Degree qualified in Business studies, Chemistry or similar

Postgraduate qualification in management and/or Chemistry would be advantageous.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluent in English with a second European language being an advantageous but not essential

Strong numerical and analytical skills, good IT proficiency (particularly excel)

Ability to manage a variety of tasks within strict timeframes; well organized, with a forward thinking, proactive attitude.

Good negotiation and influencing skills.

Cultural aware across EMEA region through working within the territory.

Shipping knowledge and experience would also be highly advantageous.
