Computational Biologist – Next Generation Sequencing

The role:

Our client is currently seeking an experienced Computational Biologist to join an established team and lead and contribute in a number of next generation sequencing (NGS) analysis projects and the development of software for NGS analysis.

Key responsibilities will include:

·      Analysis of data for internal R&D to support product range development

·      Development of existing analytical pipelines

·      Staying current with new developments in the field of NGS

·      Deliver training and on-going analytical support

Experience expectations:

Suitable applicants will be expected to have:

·      Educated to BSc/MSc in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology (or equivalent experience)

·      Proficient with scripting languages - Perl or Python with additional BioPerl/BioPython, R and Bioconductor experience would be advantageous

·      Commercial experience working with NGS data-sets.

·      Experience working with NGS panels, plus exome, WGS or RNA-seq analysis

·      Familiarity with open source tools – BWA, the Tuxedo suite and Samtools
