Drug Discovery Informatics Scientist

Seeking an experienced Informatics Scientist with Data Science Dug Discovery or Life Science background

Location: Oxfordshire 

Sector: Pharmaceutical 

The role: 

Our client is an international leader in small molecule drug discovery and development. Working in a range of therapeutics areas they utilise their extensive experience to drive new innovative small molecule compounds into the clinic. 

An opportunity is available within the Research Informatics team for an experienced Informatics Scientist to support with Data Development and Management. The role will support drug discovery projects and provide informatics solutions fro a range of discovery programs. 

Core responsibilities will include:

 

  • Development of ETL processes to load and transform datasets from our core 
  • products 
  • Implement and support custom Drug Discovery workflows for lab data processing, data analysis, data reporting, visualization and automation
  • Contribute to the consistency of the solution implemented with existing and future systems and its evolution over time 
  • Support Drug Discovery Project Databases
  • Develop, maintain or improve bespoke applications for the scientific software environment
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvements of data workflows
  • Support installation and upgrade of scientific software
  • Interact with external vendors and solution specialists of the domain.

 

Experience expectations:

Suitable applicants will be expected to have:

 

  • Previous industry experience in an Informatics Sciences position within the Life Science sector
  • Good understanding of relational databases and good Knowledge of SQL
  • Programming skills (Java or Python)
  • Hands–on experience on data manipulation using workflow tools such as KNIME 
  • Experience with ETL processes
  • BSc or equivalent in Computational Sciences
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills
  • Restful API’s knowledge is desirable
  • Experience with ChemAxon is desirable
