Operations Manager – Clinical Services

Location: West London

Salary: £35,000 - £50,000

Working hrs: Permanent role working Monday to Friday covering normal or extended office hours

Our client is an expanding life sciences business who offer vital services to the research communities around the globe in sourcing and suppling essential reagents. They are currently looking to recruit an Operations Manager to take responsibility for one of their clinics in West London. The role will be site based, looking after a small team of 10-15 staff and taking responsibility for all aspects of the operational management of the clinic.

They are looking for a hands-on individual who enjoys taking strategic operational decisions and takes personal responsibility for the smooth roll-out to their team and stakeholders and successful implementation. They need a candidate who has excellent communication skills and prides themselves on open and clear communication at all levels of staff from Senior Management to individuals within their team and customers/clients. This is of particular importance as the role requires frequent communication with the Group General Manager and Finance Director, both of which work at different sites. 

The focus for this position will be to manage the existing team and facility; support the relocation of the facility to a new local site and successfully managing the transition of equipment and services. In addition the successful candidate will take responsibility for order management and ensure the effective and efficient collection, processing and delivery of goods to customers on-time and in good order. The company has built an excellent reputation for the highest levels of customer support and service and this role will take full responsibility for continuing to grow stakeholder satisfaction across all areas. A summary of the key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Managing all aspects of customer orders, from collections, processing and delivery in a smooth, efficient and effective way, communicating to all stakeholders where there are any issues or delays in any part of the process. 

Management of operations team on a day to day basis

Work closely with the group’s Senior Management team to highlight any problems or issues and provide prompt, accurate and detailed reports on all aspects of operational performance

Ensure stock levels are in-line with the demands of the operations team, spotting trends and acting proactively to ensure there is always appropriate levels of consumables and reagents to manage operations

Drive best practise and implementing initiatives and processes to improve the operational performance and customer/client experiences

Plan and oversee the training of new and existing staff members 

Support in the recruitment of additional team members 

Managing any facilities issues and liaising with contractors as required

The successful candidate will have:

A proven background taking operational responsibility for the effective running of a product focused site

Hands-on manager with a positive, proactive can-do attitude

Experienced in sales order process managing

Managing and/or implementing quality standards (ideally ISO9001)

Track-record developing individuals within their team, ensuring their team are well trained, motivated and driven to providing the highest levels of customer service

Experience of managing multidisciplinary teams across numerous operational departments

Some experience of project managing the moving/relocating of a facility (preferred but not essential)
