Sales Manager / Business Development Manager

Reporting to the Global Director, you will be responsible for generating new UK/EU sales of their market-leading technical consulting and analytics services to their target market. Work closely with colleagues in different departments, you will take the lead in mapping the market and developing new opportunities. You will be supported in the role with an internal Sales executive/lead generator.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for:
• Strategic account planning
• Key client identification; fostering strong, long-term relationships
• Develop understanding of the sector and the key challenges influencing the customers and spot opportunities to add value services
• Take the lead in sales (inc pre-sales, bids/tenders, negotiations and closing of sales).
• Liaise with in-house engineers and technical team to produce innovative proposals (sales values to £5Mil).
• Take ownership of sales and proposals
This role would involve being office based when not out with customers so applications must be within easy access one of the several UK offices in the NW, Midlands or South East England (or be happy to relocate).
Our client is looking for well qualified Engineer/Business Professional or related with a high degree of drive & motivation to be successful in this high-value sales arena. You will be qualified to degree level (although higher level qualifications would be advantageous) in a relevant Engineering or Business discipline. Candidates must have a proven background in sales and will be able to demonstrate an ability to manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to negotiation and closing. Some of your experience must have come from the automotive sector and you will have first-hand experience dealing with the larger players within the sector. Previous experience in solution sales would be desirable, as would a background in high-value sales and manging long sales cycles.
