Scientific Account Manager (analytical chemistry services)

Location:          North Midlands


Exciting opportunity for a commercially focused scientist who is looking to escape the routine nature of a lab environment for a customer focused position within the scientific sector. This office based role would suit a degree qualified chemist with a good understanding of analytical chemistry who is looking to develop a career in scientific sales or marketing. Working from the companies offices in the north Midlands, this role will involve working closely with the Business Development team and colleagues to support the development of leads through to sales. As the company specialist in analytical chemistry testing, candidates must have an awareness of chromatography, Mass spec or elemental analysis (ICP/XRD etc..). They will have excellent communication skills (oral and written) and will have strong customer service and client relationship building skills.


Specific duties in the role will include (but is not limited to):

·       Manage all inbound customer enquiries efficiently and to a high level of accuracy to ensure customer satisfaction

·       Use in-house systems to  generate quotes and proposals, liaising with the technical teams to manage any non-standard enquiries

·       Proactive contact with customers to ensure quotes meet their requirements and to develop these into confirmed sales and orders

·       Ensure CRM system is up to date and accurate

·       Attend events and exhibitions and customer sites to promote the business and services


The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent experience within a scientific (chemistry based preferred) discipline. Previous hands on experience with analytical chemistry techniques would be advantageous along with some previous experience within a customer service based role (ideally telephone based and including elements of sales or up-selling). Fluent in English with excellent communication skills. As this position would involve occasion visits to customers and to attend events or exhibitions then a driving license would be highly advantageous.
