Upstream Process Development Scientist

Location: Oxfordshire

Our client is an Oxfordshire based biotechnology company who are focused on the development of novel therapeutics for cancer treatment. Continuing their successful growth, my client is now seeking an Upstream Process Development Scientist to support with improvements to the manufacture of clinical stage oncolytic vectors.

The role:

Working as part of the Development team your core responsibilities will include:

·         Supporting with the development and optimisation of upstream processes for viral vectors

·         Perform small  to lab scale cell culture (1l to 50l)

·         Perform scale up/scale down of bioprocesses and support new product process development.

·         Deliver improvement in vector manufacture, process optimisation, technology transfer and process validation

·         Work with high-throughput upstream studies

The role would suit a passionate, creative scientist who would like to work for a company where progressive ideas are encouraged.

Experience expectations:

Suitable applicants will have;

·         Previous industry experience working within Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical manufacture in a GMP environment.

·         Experience working in upstream process development.

·         Good knowledge of cell culture and viral vector manufacture.

·         Previous experience working with laboratory scale bioreactors (1l-50l)

·         Educated to a degree level (or equivalent experience) in a relevant biology or biotechnology discipline.

·         Knowledge of downstream processing would be beneficial but not essential.

·         Excellent attention to detail and organised and methodical approach to work.
