Our client is a leading contract testing and analysis company based in Staffordshire, who are offering a laboratory-based opportunity for a hard-working, professional individual to join their analytical chemistry team as a Team Leader. This position is a great opportunity for someone to apply their skills managing a team in a chemistry environment. The role is well suited to individuals with experience leading/managing a team in an analytical chemistry setting.
The Role
This position is suitable for individuals with experience in managing or leading a team in a chemistry-based environment, specifically analytical or environmental chemistry. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for the following:
- Managing the performance of the team under your jurisdiction,
- Ensuring that the department runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible at all times,
- Managing training, leave, sickness, and all other duties related to the administration of staff and the wider department,
- Maintaining all relevant quality standards (specifically UKAS, MCERTS, and ISO17025 standards), including the auditing and calibration of equipment, and undertaking SOP reviews when required,
- Continuous improvement in all aspects of the department.
Skills and Experience Needed
An ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in managing a team within a chemistry environment, ideally in an analytical or environmental chemistry setting,
- At least a Bachelors level qualification in Chemistry or a related subject,
- Comprehensive understanding of the processes and terminology associated with working in a chemistry laboratory,
- Strong knowledge of working to UKAS (ISO17025) and MCERTS regulations, and how they are applied in a fast-paced testing environment,
- Understanding of current health and safety regulations, and their application in a laboratory,
- Robust skills in organisation, negotiation, prioritisation, time management, conflict resolution, and other such skills demanded in a management role,
- Experience in using analytical chemistry techniques, such as GC-MS, GC-FID, LC-MS, HPLC, ICP-MS/OES, etc.
The Package
Our client is offering this opportunity on a full-time, permanent basis. The salary offered is from £27,000, with a competitive benefits package.
