Senior Inorganic Chemist

Location – Kent

Sector – Analytical Chemistry

Salary £27,000 - £29,000 (depending on interview performance & experience)

Full time, permanent role

Do you have an inorganic chemistry background? Are you comfortable with working within a high throughput testing environment? Do you have leadership experience? We are currently offering the opportunity for a new chemist to join a contract analytical laboratory testing environmental samples.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced scientist to join a busy inorganics department where you will analyse large volumes of samples each day.

The Role

As a Senior Inorganic Chemist, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing a small team of junior scientists,
  • Supporting the Team Leader / Lab Manager with co-ordination of the lab,
  • Preparation of laboratory samples and reagents,
  • Equipment troubleshooting & maintenance.

Skills and Experience Needed

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Hands-on experience working with ion chromatography, total organic carbon (TOC) analysers, discrete analysers, or segmented flow analysers (essential).
  • A valid UK driving licence & car access (essential).
  • Existing UK work eligibility (essential).
  • BSc / MSc / equivalent work experience in Chemistry or similar (essential).
  • Prior experience supervising / training junior staff members (essential).
  • Prior experience working within a high throughput testing environment (desired).
