Our client is a leading company, offering research services to the Drug Discovery sector. They collaborate with lead researchers and organisations to enhance the understanding of immunological, oncological, neurological and other disease areas. They are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to join their Cellular Sciences Team as a Senior Scientist within advanced microscopy. The Role
This is a role for highly experienced Scientists in Advanced Light Microscopy who hold a PhD (or Master’s) in a biologically focused discipline, ideally with post-doctoral or additional industrial experience. This role will involve both wet lab and office elements. As a Senior Scientist – Microscopy and Imaging, you will be responsible for:
- Designing and running of advanced microscopy projects relating to drug discovery and disease research to advanced internal projects. Seeing these projects from conception to completion.
- Using various advanced light microscopy techniques including super resolution microscopy, high content imaging, confocal imaging, multi-photon imaging, live cell imaging e.g. Incucyte etc.
- Working on complex cellular models, tissues, fixed cells and live cell imaging projects.
- Designing and implementing new image analysis pipelines
- Liaising with external collaborators and partners to provide project milestone updates and drive further research initiatives.
- Keeping up to date with the latest super resolution and other light microscopy technological changes and suggesting new tools to be used internally.
Skills and Experience Needed:
Suitable applicants will have:
- A PhD or Master’s – a significant portion of this PhD/MSc should be advanced light microscopy based. (essential)
- Proven track record of delivering high-impact microscopy projects and experimental data (essential)
- Additional post-PhD experience (post doc, or industry) in running and using various types of advanced light microscopy including one or more of the following: Super Resolution (PTM, SIM, STED, STORM, PALM etc), live cell imaging, high content imaging (HCI) (essential)
- Strong experience and skills in image analysis and processing + script writing. (essential)
- A strong network in the microscopy field and collaboration experience with other experts in the field (desired)
- Ex vivo tissue and cell preparation and analysis experience (essential)
- Excellent communication, multi-tasking skills (essential)
- Previous experience of tissue staining or complex cell culture staining for microscopy imaging (desired)
- Experience in the field of neuroscience, immunology or complex medicines (desired)
- Long-term right to work in the UK, visa sponsorship cannot be provided (essential)
